What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?
Who didn't love fun week?! Generators and all that jazz!! I had so much fun wasting time away from the desk. I also enjoyed reading my co-workers blogs. There are some really bright, articulate, talented staff in the library. Other staff...not so much:)
Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
I was pleasantly pleased to learn about Zoho and Google docs. I found some great websites that I will be using. Oh yeah...all the fun generators! Good times.
If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you again chose to participate?
Yes, even if there wasn't a laptop involved.
In a nut shell....I enjoyed most of the exercises, but I being the person that I am, I found it stressful when I could not get the exercises done in a reasonable amount of time. We were asked to go on sites, that were blocked, which seems kinda dumb. Why are they blocked?
It's a shame that some staff members chose not to be part of the project.
I also feel bad for the staff members that can not find the time in there busy days to finish the exercises. Instead, they have chosen to do the project at home. This should be something to consider if there is another program in the future.

Our Digital Media library....
Kinda sucks.
The first thing I noticed was there was no publishing date for the title. I like knowing when the title was released and I know a lot of patrons do as well.
I also noticed there is not a great selection of titles from popular authors. Sandra Brown had about 2. Nora Roberts was like 3. Even with James Patterson it was slim pick ins.
I found the site to be a disappointment. I wonder how many titles are actually checked out?

Podcast...whatever
I'm hearing voices!! I hear voices, but nobody is there!! I'm already depressed with OCD and now I hear voices?!?!
Come on, I would rather read a book review, celebrity gossip or whatever. I like the visual stuff that comes with magazines, TV and the computer. I don't like this.

20 minute workout
I love, love, love YouTube!!!
I chose this video because it brings back great memories. I was around 12 years old and would watch this with my my mom and sister, but not actually do the exercises. Notice the matching costumes, with leg warmers and the hair! And the music...it doesn't get much better, or more 80's, than this. I am amazed how those women did not break out laughing with those ridiculous formations.
If the library can find an appropriate, yet fun video for the website, than yeah, post that bad boy.
Web 2.0 Awards Winners
iGoogle is my pick.
I have had a Google account for years, however, I only recently made my own page. I love it! The page I made makes me smile everytime I log on.
However, I find that the "add stuff" feature has some fun gadgets and I have tried most of them, but a number of them have been a disappointment.
Could you see any applications for its use in a library setting?
Can't say that I do.

Wiki....I knew someone by that name
Again, loved the video!
Don't really get why one would use the wiki thing for personal use, such as a trip. Personally, I would just call my homies if we were planning a trip. I mean, what has happened to "talking" to people. It's all texting and emailing and now wiking!! What the.... But like I have said before, I am old fashioned that way.
However, if it was to be used like the following website, then woo hoo!!
http://www.libsuccess.org/index.php?title=Main_Page
I found some totally excellent library sites on the web page. I am doing more reader's advisory, so I found the "Readers' Advisory" category helpful.
I enjoyed reading my fellow co-workers favorite things. It looks like the pbwiki site could be useful, just not for me.
